Giorgio da Valeggia

Giorgio says of himself

Painting means life for me, an interior requirement to understand better why I am on this world. With it I can express my emotions, my feelings, letting me be guided by my own intuition, my fantasies and my inspirations of the moment.

Painting is for me a a way to flee from my anxieties, from my worries because, showing them, I can externalize them and feel more serene, happier, livelier.

Others say of him

Sour, wild, visionary, provocating, Giorgio's paintings have a bloody vital charge in shattering freedom, are expressive in the tangled and contradictory layers of the contemporary world and in the chasm of the individual and collective spirit, searching for sunshine and cancrene, atrocity and defeat, pangs and monstrosities, burning gasps and genuine impulses to revolt.

Gianni Pre
(director of the Controcorrente art magazine)

The fascination of dreams, human misery and the panting for a life in a higher dimension, where light is the essential source that collects all, are the expressive elements of a painter who has made of art his meaning of life.

A shy man and uncompromising artist, he has dedicated 30 years of his existence to a continuous, constant study of the human psyche to represent on the canvas the result of his quest.

He can't (and doesn't want to) be categorized, but his paintings, expressions between the oniric and the surreal have made that the art critic Giuseppe Possa has defined his art "psychopainting".
